Easy German Chocolate Cake

 

 

 

1 Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Swiss Chocolate Cake Mix

3 eggs

1 cups of water

cup vegetable oil

cup pecans chopped

 

Topping:

1 cup of brown sugar firmly packed

1/3 cup of butter melted

cup milk

1 3 oz. can flaked coconut

cup pecans chopped

 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan.

 

For cake, combine cake mix, eggs, water and oil in large bowl. Beat at medium speed with electric mixer for 2 minutes. Stir in cup pecans. Pour batter into pan. Bake at 350 for 35 - 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

 

For topping, set oven to broil. Combine brown sugar, melted butter and milk in large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on High (100% power) for 1 - 2 minutes or until mixture comes to a boil. Stir in coconut and 1/2 cup pecans. Spread evenly over cooled cake. Broil 4 inches from heat for 3 - 5 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely.

 

TIP: Rotate cake under broiler for more even browning.
