Sour Cream Apple Squares

 

Serves: 14

 

 

2 cups flour                                                   

1 cup of brown sugar                                              

½ cup margarine                                              

½ cup walnuts chopped                                        

1 teaspoon of cinnamon                                             

1 teaspoon of baking soda                                         

½ teaspoon salt                                              

1 cup of sour cream                                               

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract                                      

1 egg                                                          

2 cups finely chopped apples                                   

 

In large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and softened margarine.  Blend with electric mixer at low speed until crumble.  Stir in nuts.  Press 2 1/2 cups crumb mixture into an un-greased 9" x 13" pan.  To remaining crumb mixture, add cinnamon, baking soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla and egg.  Blend well.  Stir in apples and spoon mixture evenly over base. 

 

Bake at 350º for 25 - 35 minutes.  Cut into 14 squares.
